Intention is a purposeful plan to perform an action.
Desire is the focus on an outcome without a purposeful plan of how to achieve it

Intention is directed at an intenders own actions, requires some sort of reasoning, requires a commitment to do the intended deed. Intention implies purposefulness: an understanding of a plan of action and a planned satisfactory result.
